A Different Kind of Documentary

If you feel like checking out a documentary where you don't feel like someone is out to make a big point but actually show you a place or an issue check out Staying Alive in Jo'burg.

I know, the title is strange and the soundtrack selection for the film is unfortunate at times, but the film does a good job of actually portraying Johannesburg. The main point of the film is to show the city preparing for the 2010 World Cup, but in my opinion the portrayal seems very realistic.

It's a sort of a documentary movie where you can imagine the sights as they are if you were there, except perhaps the filmmakers go a little deeper in to the city than you normally would. In this the film succeeds.

Perhaps they could have gotten more out of it, but it's a refreshing production after seeing stuff like Supersize Me and various Moore films claiming to be documentaries. Perhaps they are but I don't particularly enjoy the style.

You can freely download the film from the Internet, it's creative commons licensed.
You can pick up a torrent at http://www.mininova.org/tor/3001695

If you don't have a bit torrent client please google uTorrent or Transmission, the movie is well worth the price of admission.
